Human Food

I'm not a big fan of the meal they call breakfast. Mind you, I agree that it is the most important meal of the day, and when I do get my first meal in early, I find myself with a lot more energy than otherwise. Over the last few years, I've been experimenting with different formulae for brekkie, ranging from instant oatmeal, to a muffin, to Mr. Christie's cookies. I think I've settled on a real alternative to eating healthy.

Enter the energy bar. I'm still in the process of finding one without the yucky protein & vitamin aftertaste, but it's a good way to stuff in 200 calories to get me through the morning. And a lot more healthy than Double Chocolate Chunk cookies.

When shopping for said energy bars, I've noticed that the process is amazingly similar to buying food for my dog. You flip the back, check out the nutrition info panel, and then read through the ingredients list for things that don't belong in anything edible. If people were pets, you'd find Balance Bars in the human food aisle of the supermarket.
